04/08/2023 - Gli Sfaratthons si gettano anima e corpo in questo vascone di suoni, anche con questo terzo album concepito durante il periodo pandemico. Immaginate voi di ascoltare le Orme e di aggiungerci il flauto, questo è un connubio fatale per i cuori del Prog fans, e già queste poche righe bastano per fare acquistare il nuovo “Odi Et Amo”. Altro punto in comune fra questi musicisti del passato e del presente è proprio il testo riguardante l’eterna lotta fra il bene e il male (per le Orme “Felona E Sorona”), qui sono l’odio e l’amore, la ragione e il sentimento. I testi sono per opera del poeta Donato Di Luca. La formazione è composta da Giovanni Di Nunzio (voce solista, chitarre), Cecilio Luciano (batteria), Luca Di Nunzio (tastiere, chitarre, voce), Giovanni Casciato (chitarre) e Mario Di Nunzio (basso) con l’aggiunta di Geoff Warren al flauto e del sax di Sabatino Matteucci nel brano “Saffo”. In media le tracce che compongono il lavoro sono delle mini suite, altra conferma di quanto detto. S’inizia proprio con “Odi Et Amo”, le carte sono subito scoperte e le parti strumentali sono davvero intense, profonde, tanto da far venire spesso la pelle d’oca a chi come me è amante di certe sonorità vintage. Le tastiere svolgono un ruolo importante, ma anche la sezione ritmica dimostra di essere un vero e proprio motorino ben lubrificato. Ciò che subito esce allo scoperto è l’intesa e l’amore dei strumentisti per questa musica, mentre il flauto è il vero valore aggiunto per l’economia di questa musica. L’attesa della visione della propria donna è affrescata in una tela sonora ricca di colori nel brano “La Donna Amata” e ancora donna in “Maddalena”, una storia che narra le vicissitudini di una paesana cantata in dialetto. La poetica di “Saffo” s'incentra sulla passione e sull'amore per vari personaggi, qui la musica è colonna sonora davvero appropriata fra Orme ed effetti sonori. Struggente il solo finale di chitarra. Tanto mellotron fra le note e ciò è ingrediente che non può mai mancare in questo piatto. Amore ottocentesco per “Zarina”, pezzo composto da Geoff Warren fra reminiscenze sanremesi del 2020. “Ti dono Una Canzone” è anche per minutaggio stesso che si aggira attorno ai tre minuti, il singolo che anticipa l’album ed è composto sempre nel 2020. In chiusura “Odi Et Amo – Closing Session”. Ascoltare questo terzo lavoro dei Sfaratthons è come bere un fresco bicchiere d’acqua, quando si ha sete di questa immortale musica, migliore bevanda non può esistere. Il Prog italiano è sempre vivo, alla faccia di chi dice che il genere è finito. The poetics of "Sappho" centers on passion and love for various characters, here the music is truly appropriate soundtrack between Orme and sound effects. Poignant is the final guitar solo.
